In Romans we read, "The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light." Attaining an understanding of Christian Science was, for the writer, like putting on new and impervious armor. Having lost all religious faith and belief in the Bible, I found myself still seeking "a reason of the hope" that was in me. I had earnestly tried different theories as expounded by various orthodox systems of religion, but I had found no peace, no sense of security.

My husband had experienced practically the same mental struggle, and together we decided to investigate Christian Science. Not only many physical healings, but harmony in family relationships, a deeper sense of Love and its true, spiritual meaning, and protection from harm under many seeming adverse circumstances have resulted from the disposal of false, material theories in order to gain an understanding of Truth.

Demonstrations have not been made without a struggle. Mrs. Eddy writes on page 174 of the textbook, Science and Health, "The footsteps of thought, rising above material standpoints, are slow, and portend a long night to the traveller; but the angels of His presence—the spiritual intuitions that tell us when 'the night is far spent, the day is at hand'—are our guardians in the gloom." I began my study of Christian Science over ten years ago, and in that time there have been many doubts and fears to overcome, but each overcoming of a hardship has brought blessings. As one presses on in Science, the truth becomes clear and is proved indestructible.
