Open Doors

THE doors of receptivity
Must open from within.
We may not push our way through these,
Nor force the thoughts of men
To hear the truth that heals and saves
From fear, disease, and sin.

Yet ever does the truth shine on,
In spite of lock or bar,
And daily does some seeker turn,
As toward some guiding star,
And, through outreaching right desire,
First leave his door ajar.

Oh, may we offer those who turn
The gift that will abide—
Some gracious sign of healing truth,
Some sweet, unspoken guide—
Till all the world forgets to fear,
And each door opens wide!
