"The recognition of life harmonious"
IN an illuminating paragraph on page 495 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, has written, "Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious—as Life eternally is—can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not." Note the words "the recognition of life harmonious—as Life eternally is." How may one prove for himself that life is eternally harmonious? Only a right understanding of what Life is, will give a satisfactory answer to the question.
Through the inspired revelation of Christian Science we learn that Life is God, and that therefore life is the expression of God. Since God is "of purer eyes than to behold evil," and cannot "look on iniquity," He knows nothing of discord. The real man is the complete and perfect expression of God, and cannot know anything which his divine Principle, God, does not know; therefore the real man can know nothing of inharmony. As one comprehends the fact that because God is perfect, His expression, man, is likewise perfect, one's sense of discord is destroyed.
The natural, normal, and right desire of every human being is for harmony and happiness. Yet who has found existence entirely harmonious at all times? Some may be seeking harmony through the acquirement of wealth; others may be striving for place or power; still others may be thinking that a change of environment will bring the desired condition; and those who are beset with sickness or other physical discords may be seeking release from pain and discomfort. Christian Science brings to all such seekers the understanding which will free them from these limiting and enslaving conditions. What is this understanding which is a panacea for all human ills?
