I have had many beautiful healings in the nineteen years...

I have had many beautiful healings in the nineteen years that I have been a student of Christian Science. I have been healed of tonsillitis, heart trouble, ulcerated tooth, constipation, chapped hands, biliousness, rheumatism, hip trouble, a growth on the body, and grief caused by the passing on of some of the members of my family.

One healing for which I am indeed grateful came when I was staying alone. I awoke in the night and was unable to move any part of my body. For a few minutes I became very much frightened, but suddenly I remembered a similar experience a near relative had. I had always thought of this one as being afflicted, and had always connected this disease with her whenever I thought of her. I began immediately to declare the truth regarding this condition, and to destroy the erroneous belief that I had held for so many years. In a few minutes the fear left me, and I began to rejoice and be grateful that I had an opportunity to know her as she really was; and while I was thinking along this line I fell asleep. The next morning I awoke and was dressed before I thought of my experience during the night.

I am also grateful for the loving care and protection which my family and I experienced while passing through the so-called depression. We had to meet the problem of unemployment and a seeming lack of supply for some time. At this time we were unable to draw on our bank accounts, because the banks closed, and we were compelled to make our demonstration from day to day. During this period each member of the family put forth a special effort to overcome all sense of resentment, selfishness, envy, self-pity, and fear. Each day we arose early in the morning and studied the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly with the children before they went to school. This was a great help to all of us, because it supplied us with what we needed for the day. Often, when fear would seem to creep in and make any member of the family doubtful of God's love and protection, this verse from Psalms was referred to: "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread."
