"Seek, and ye shall find"

THE way from sense to soul is no easy way, since it means the giving up of self-will and self-justification, a complete turning away from the belief in a selfhood separate from God, Spirit. It means a desire to pray as did our Master, "Thy will be done." Our lips may repeat these words, yet, if we are clinging to our own will, we are not sincere.

When mortals cling to the belief in a selfhood apart from God, and want to have their own way, they will not give up their false belief until they acknowledge that it brings conflict, discord, and misunderstanding. When such results are experienced, they may then strive escape from disaster and suffering. Arrived at this point, they begin to understand that the cross is the central emblem of Christianity.

Christ Jesus said, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." As long as mortals believe in a material selfhood, they believe that they are subject to material laws. Freedom from false beliefs comes only through spiritualization of thought. While we believe that there is life and sensation in matter, and that we live in matter, apart from God, we are unable to understand that God is ever present, ever near to help, encourage, sustain those who long to escape from the bondage of matter and its so-called laws. Christ Jesus commanded his followers to turn away from material way empty ceremonies; he taught that God is Spirit, and must, therefore, be spiritually worshiped.
