"Minute men and women"

IN a Wednesday evening meeting of a branch church, during the period left open for testimonies, there occurred a long pause when no one seemed ready to speak. One member felt impelled to respond to this opportunity to testify to the healing power of Truth, but error suggested that, since she had spoken in the meeting the week suggested that, since she had spoken in meeting the week before, it would be unseemly to do so on the present occasion. Then there flashed into her consciousness the Biblical command, "Be instant in season, out of season." The student had learned to heed angelic promptings, and so she arose to testify to the efficacy of Christian Science in her own experience. Thereafter other testimonies followed in quick succession.

On page 158 of "Miscellaneous Writings" Mary Baker Eddy has written, "All God's servants are minute men and women." As the minutemen of Revolutionary days were ready at all times to act for the welfare and protection of the colonies, so vigilant Christian Scientists, as "God's servants," are always prepared to act in whatever capacity may be required of them, in order that their church services may be productive of spiritual good to all who attend them.

An especial opportunity to act as "minute men and women" is afforded us in the latter part of the Wednesday evening meetings, which is reserved for testimonies and remarks in regard to Christian Science healing. When the sincere student of Christian Science considers the blessings, the increased peace, freedom, and harmony, which had come into his experience as a result of a better understanding of God, can he ever lack cause for gratitude, or be at a loss for words with to voice it? As a verse from one of our hymns so beautifully expresses it (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 249):
