I was a devoted working member of an orthodox church...

I was a devoted working member of an orthodox church for many years, until forty-two years ago, when a friend called to my attention the good to be gained through Christian Science.

About 1916 I was visiting relatives in Michigan, and went along to assist in picking huckleberries. While walking home I scratched a finger on a blackberry thorn. The finger started to pain, and blood poisoning developed. I was laid up for several weeks, but through the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner, I was completely healed.

In 1929 my niece, my grandniece, and I were making an automobile trip to Iowa. When within forty miles of our destination our automobile struck a loose pocket of gravel, careened suddenly, and overturned. The top of the automobile struck several posts, was torn off, and we were thrown out. My niece, who was driving, was severely cut and bruised on the limbs and head, and I suffered from a broken wrist, two broken ribs, and several cuts and bruises. A rural delivery man, returning from his route, picked us up and drove us to a doctor's office, where several stitches were taken in my niece's leg, and my wrist was set. I wired to a Christian Science practitioner for help. We suffered very little, and in a short time we were entirely normal.
