Will you kindly grant space for a reply to an article which appeared in your paper recently, containing misleading statements about Christian Science?

It is just as impossible to reconcile the material with the spiritual as it is to combine darkness with light. Mortal existence is a dream, and in order to awaken from this dream "the human self must be evangelized" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 254). Mrs. Eddy found it necessary in her teaching to deal with every phase of human existence, so that she might reach all those who were seeking "a cup of cold water in Christ's name" (ibid., p. 570).

In the Christian Science textbook (ibid., p. 269) we read: "From first to last the supposed coexistence of Mind and matter and the mingling of good and evil have resulted from the philosophy of the serpent. Jesus' demonstrations sift the chaff from the wheat, and unfold the unity and the reality of good, the unreality, the nothingness, of evil."
