On page 404 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy we read, "Healing the sick and reforming the sinner are one and the same thing in Christian Science." Before becoming interested in Christian Science I often wondered why God saved sinners and would not, or so I had believed, heal sickness.
My first healing was of a serious and painful inflamed condition of a nerve in the leg. My position as a floorwaker in a large store meant continual walking all day. While I was walking or standing there was no pain, but upon sitting down or retiring for the night I endured terrible agony. Some nights I hardly rested at all. I had been suffering for some months, when I finally decided to try Christian Science. I received treatments for two weeks, but grew steadily worse. I was greatly surprised when the practitioner told me that I was healed and did not need any more treatments. This was on a Friday, and on Monday I suddenly realized that I was indeed healed. That was thirty-eight years ago, and I have never had a return of the trouble.
For this and for healings in my family of scarlet fever, appendicitis, pneumonia, heart disease, and many other ills, I am deeply thankful.
