The testimonies published in the Christian Science...
The testimonies published in the Christian Science periodicals have been such an inspiration to me that I feel I should be indeed ungrateful if I, too, did not add my appreciation for having experienced almost thirty years of protection through the understanding of Christian Science.
Several years ago my mother and I were beautifully and instantaneously healed of bad burns which we received one Sunday morning while frying some bread dough for breakfast. The kettle containing the hot grease was accidentally upset, and the contents landed all over our feet. Immediately the experience of the three Hebrews in the fiery furnace, as related in Daniel, came to consciousness, and I was grateful that the law which operated so perfectly to protect them—so that not even the smell of smoke could be detected on them—was operating to sustain us and to bring us unharmed through the fiery trial. We went about our work, doing all that was necessary, and departed for church without any inconvenience. The only evidence of the burns was a slight redness, which disappeared within a day or so.
More recently, while running down a narrow, winding, poorly lighted flight of steel steps, I missed my footing and fell all the way down them, striking my head forcibly. As I fell, I kept saying, "I'm all right," for my one thought was not unduly to alarm those behind me. I was badly bruised, but after a few moments spent in clearing my thought, I continued down the remaining seven flights of steps and walked about a mile to the car. When I arrived home only harmony reigned.
