The "louder song"
"Spiritual music," inaudible to physical sense, is "the music of Soul" (Message to The Mother Church for 1900 by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 11). This music is expressed in universal harmony, beauty, and loveliness throughout God's creation. Forgetting self and lifting thought through spiritual understanding, the student of Christian Science can hear the harmony of being, wherein every spiritual idea has its individual expression.
Mankind has long striven to reach this state of spirituality, but has found error blocking the way. But in spite of the seeming discords, more and more of spirituality has unfolded to human consciousness. This unfoldment has come through the uplifted thinking of spiritually-minded men and women throughout the ages. All this spiritual thinking has had its part in helping mankind. Spirituality exists for everyone, and we can start each day's work knowing that, in the words of Moses, "those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever."
But God's voice is heard not alone in the spiritual thoughts entertained in the past; He is speaking continuously through the spiritual thinking of men, women, and children. Nearly everyone is thinking some good thoughts. This can well be said of Christian Scientists. Every spiritual thought today is part of that body of true thinking which has unfolded to humanity during the ages. We need these thoughts which come from God. Let us listen to them and not to the discords which have not yet been silenced.
