God's Good Will
The intelligent comprehension of the will of God is one of the most valuable assets that a student of Christian Science can possess. It is a guide more safe and sure than any mariner's chart, and leads, when clearly grasped through spiritual perception, to happiness and progress in human affairs.
Christian Science teaches that God is infinite, omnipotent, all-inclusive good, to whom evil is unknown. God's will, therefore, must be good and all-inclusive, since He is infinite. Because God is omnipotent, His will must be all-powerful. Good, therefore, can be relied upon to govern and guide, as it unfolds to those who recognize it and obediently act according to its promptings. When the Apostle Paul admonished the Philippians to be obedient, he also reminded them that "it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."
The student of Christian Science learns that God is divine Principle, and that Principle acts through spiritual law, and cannot be obstructed or frustrated. He thus spiritually perceives that the will of God, or the law of God, must be done, and that it is altogether good because it proceeds from perfect Principle; that it produces happiness and harmony because of its very goodness. On page 155 of "Miscellaneous Writings," Mrs. Eddy writes, "All power and happiness are spiritual, and proceed from goodness."
