Love Does Not Cease

Love does not cease!
The river's steady flow is not more sure
Than is the fact that love lives evermore,
Becoming ever dearer to our thought,
As we accept this boundless gift of God.

Love does not cease!
Though shadowed ways of human life may veil
Its full effulgence from our tear-dimmed eyes;
Though hearts may cry out in their anguish sore
Because it seems that love is still withheld,

Love does not cease!
No heart that once has felt its tender touch,
That once has caught a glimpse of what love means,
Can fail to hear it in the gentle word,
And know its quiet presence and its power.
