A sincere desire to express my love for Christian Science...

A sincere desire to express my love for Christian Science and all that it stands for prompts the writing of this testimony.

One day, while riding, I was thrown over the horse's head, and all my weight landed on my left arm and hand. After picking myself up I declared the truth as best I knew how, for at that time I was somewhat new in my study of Christian Science. However, the pain persisted in my arm and hand, which hung limp at my side. My only means of reaching the stable, which was some distance away, was to remount and ride back. The pain seemed almost overwhelming, but I continued to declare the truth.

When I arrived, everyone very lovingly offered material assistance, which I refused. I called up a practitioner, but was informed that he was out. I went to the home of another practitioner, and found that he was not at home. Then I went to a doctor, who was the house surgeon of a large hospital in the vicinity of my home. Upon examining my hand and arm he said that I had dislocated my shoulder, and that practically every bone in my hand was broken. He told me that the shoulder had gone back into place, but that he could not set the bones of my hand without an X ray. I was told to come back early the next morning, since the X ray could not be taken until then.
