Christian Science is a religion of Love

Christian Science is a religion of Love. This was convincingly proved to me one day when I was riding on a bus in a large city. I was pondering the fact of man's true status and the impossibility of God's child lacking any good thing, such as gentleness, courage, honesty, or purity. Many beautiful ideas of Love were my companions, and I rejoiced because I knew they were true.

When the bus came to the end of the line, I was pushed with the crowd to the door; and as I was about to go on my way I heard a man say, "Lady, you dropped something!" As I turned another man handed me my full pay envelope, which had fallen from my purse. This incident proved to me the truth of the thoughts which had come to me.

One of the first physical healings which I recall, was experienced while I was attending grade school. My parents had taken up the study of Christian Science a few years before, and my own faith in its healing power was untried. I had a skin disease commonly called ringworm. The school children had tried to convince me that it would increase, and that I should not be able to control it without medical aid. I applied the truth as well as I knew how to do, and my parents also relied wholly upon the truth as given in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The error was not overcome, however, but continued to grow worse. One day a medical nurse visited the school to examine the children. I had completely forgotten that I had any visible physical defect, but the nurse saw it at once and said to me, "You will see your family physician about this, won't you?"
