When I was examined by the school doctor in the first...
When I was examined by the school doctor in the first years of my schooling, he stated that I was tubercular, and when I was fourteen years old acute symptoms of the disease appeared. Then my mother and I learned of Christian Science. We were both very happy, for it was like a ray of light from heaven, and we immediately felt the blessing which came from the divine teaching. A kind practitioner stood by us faithfully and lovingly, and gradually the truth became more and more clear to us. I was also privileged to attend the Sunday school. In 1937 I finished school. In order to find out which line of work I might pursue, I had to go to the lung specialist again. We asked the practitioner for help, and the following day I went with my mother to the doctor. He examined me thoroughly, X-rayed me, then took me by the shoulders and said, "Young man, you are entirely well, and can take up any line of work." The official at the vocational office was quite surprised at the certificate, because he had before him the opposite report on the last school examination. Today I am studying at a machine locksmith's shop, and feel very well in spite of heavy work. Every Sunday I attend the Christian Science Sunday School, and am very happy to be able to help as an usher.
We are exceedingly grateful for Christian Science, and to the kind practitioner for her constant readiness to help.
