"The illuminations of Science"

ON page 319 of "Science and Health with key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes, "The divine Science taught in the original language of the Bible came through inspiration, and needs inspiration to be understood;" and on page 596 she says, "The illuminations of Science give up a sense of the nothingness of error, and they show the spiritual inspiration of Love and Truth to be the only fit preparation for admission to the presence and power of the Most High."

As one prayerfully ponders the above statements, the realization unfolds more clearly that only through her great purity of thought and her unselfed love for humanity could our beloved Leader have risen to the heights of inspiration and spiritual illumination through which she gave to the world her great revelation.

Inspiration is necessary to a right understanding of the Scriptures, and Christian Scientists desire and pray that they may gain this realization. Mrs. Eddy writes (ibid., p. 547), "Inspired thought relinquishes a material, sensual, and mortal theory of the universe, and adopts the spiritual and immortal."
