I wish to express my sincere gratitude for the health and happiness which have come to me since I became a student of Christian Science. I took up the study to find happiness, at a time when I was most depressed and morbid. Daily I rejoice in this new-found joy.

My young son and I were instantly healed of pneumonia. Asking God's guidance to be led aright, I opened the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and read from page 430 to page 442. I had always passed over quickly this part of Science and Health, for the legal terms used in the allegory had never interested me. But this night I had prayed for guidance, and I knew that divine Love was guiding me aright. I studied, reading aloud to the babe. When I had finished, I gave thanks to God for the light I had received from this study. I put the child to bed, and in the morning we were both entirely free.

I should like to give thanks for a more recent healing. While I was frying some meat, the hot grease splashed up in my face, and my lips and mouth felt seared and very painful. I knew I must work fast, because I did not wish my family to see the burns. Instantly the thought came: Consciousness cannot be burned. I am the likeness of God; error cannot reach me. "The scientific statement of being" (ibid., p. 468) also supported me. Within less than twenty minutes the family arrived, and no one knew what had taken place.
