It is a pleasure to testify to a few of the many healings I have received through the study of Christian Science. At the invitation of a friend, I attended a Christian Science lecture, which deeply impressed me.
A copy of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, was borrowed from the Reading Room, and I found that, although it was not a big book, it required some time for me to finish reading it. The average time required to read a book of fiction was a few hours, while the textbook meant days of diligent but delightful study. I devoted every available minute to it, much to the surprise of my family.
My first healing was instantaneous, and came when I read, on page 393 of the textbook, these words: "When Jesus declares that 'the light of the body is the eye,' he certainly means that light depends upon Mind, not upon the complex humors, lenses, muscles, the iris and pupil, constituting the visual organism." Glasses worn for over twelve years, which doctors had advised would always be necessary, were laid aside. This was over six years ago, and they have never been used since.
