Grace is the evidence to mortals of God's infinite, compassionate love. God knows nothing of sin, sickness, and death, but through His grace men receive understanding, strength, and courage to pass from the error of sin unto holiness, from the illusion of death unto Life. At dawn, before the sun has risen, the sky begins to lighten although the source of light is not yet visible; in like manner, although we may be so mentally darkened that we are not conscious of the presence of God, yet the light of the divine presence shines about us. This is the grace of God.—E. W. P.
