I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for Christian Science and for the great help it is in my daily life.

Christian Science came to me at a time of great physical and mental need. I came to Denmark in October, 1914, because I could not stand the climate in the Ukraine, for I had suffered for several years from tuberculosis and constant attacks of bronchitis. Seven years later, when according to human opinion it seemed hopeless for me ever to become well, I received a message that my parents, who owned an estate in the Ukraine, were in prison. At this time I heard about Christian Science, and a friend, the only Scientist then in this city, lent me the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and I began to study. I found in this book the real basis upon which Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, had worked, when he refused to acknowledge material belief and proved the nothingness of matter by healing the sick. I was completely and permanently healed without any specific treatment, merely by reading the textbook in German and English.

I sought and found employment in Germany, because it was easier to get in touch with my parents from that country. Through a practitioner's loving work, my parents succeeded in coming home to Denmark after forty-two years' absence. They were penniless, but I returned to Denmark at the same time, and, since I was now entirely healed, I was able to earn a livelihood for them and for myself by office work. Through holding fast to Truth, my parents gradually gave up the use of drugs, which they had been accustomed to take for malaria, which was prevalent at that time in the Ukraine.
