It has been my desire for some time to add my song of praise to those of the many who have been healed through the study of Christian Science. A number of years ago, following a major operation, I experienced a complete nervous breakdown. With it came alternately the desire for death and the fear of it; also, the fear of seeing and talking with people seemed to cause fainting spells. Finally, after a number of weeks in a sanatorium, where I received every care and kindness, I asked my physician if I might see a dear friend. She was a Christian Scientist, but that fact did not enter my mind at the time; I just wanted to see her.

Lack of strength seemed to be holding me in bondage, and when she came to see me, she stated the fact that all strength comes from God. Very soon after this I returned home, but still I had to remain in bed, and the weakness persisted. Each day this faithful friend came and read to me; at first she read the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly, then articles from the Christian Science periodicals.

At last my thought was awakened and I began to read for myself. I also called a practitioner, who lovingly guided me and showed me the way into this blessed truth. The following verse from the fortieth chapter of Isaiah cleared my thought so completely that I was able to leave my bed at once: "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Needless to say, my strength increased with my joy, and once again I was able to live a happy and useful life.
