I want to express my gratitude for Christian Science, and for the many healings and proofs of God's care and protection which I have had.

I became a student of Science about twenty years ago through a sister and her husband, who had been student for a number of years. Although none of my family are students of Christian Science, I have clung to its blessed truths during this time, and have received many healings. Among the first was that of influenza. My family had been much worried about my condition, but I clung to Christian Science help, and was healed.

Through the study of Science I have learned to see God as an ever-present help in trouble, "and not a God afar off," as I used to think He was.

In 1937 a practitioner worked for me, not only to heal a condition of the nerves, but to help me to gain a better knowledge of the truth. As a result of her loving and splendid work, I was able to make the following demonstration. I had a growth on my eyelid and was informed by a trained medical nurse, who was visiting in our home at the time, that it would have to be burned off with electricity. At that time I read in a copy of the Sentinel a testimony of a woman who had had a growth on her face. She had clung to the thought that there is no growth other than spiritual growth, and one morning, while she was washing her face, the growth had dropped off. I felt that the same God would heal me of my trouble, so I began to work, clinging to the truth, studying, pondering, and declaring God's allness. In less than two weeks the growth entirely disappeared, leaving no trace.

For the faithful work of the practitioner and her loving patience in directing my thoughts out of mortal beliefs, I am most grateful. I have gained a better understanding of God through Christian Science than I ever had before. Words cannot express my gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.
