Current Notes

Johannesburg, Transvaal, Union of Soutti Africa (Second Church).—The church building of Second Church of Christ, Scientist, Johannesburg, was dedicated at the services held on Sunday, December 4, 1938. The church was well filled at each of the three services.

Services were at first held in hired buildings. The cornerstone of the new church was laid in February, 1927, The cost of the building alone was £4780.—Johannesburg Star.

Summit, New Jersey (First Church).—The dedication of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Summit, on Sunday, December 25, 1938, was marked by impressive morning and afternoon services. Sunday was a day of rejoicing. Members saw the culmination of a lot of hard work and sacrifice. We congratulate its members, not only for what has been accomplished, but on the program for the future. The church maintains a Reading Room on Maple Street, where books and literature bearing on the work of Mary Baker Eddy are available to everyone.—The Summit Press.
