Your Joy

[Written Especially for Young People]

How greatly the world needs radiant joy! What a treasure this quality has proved itself to be throughout the ages! The Bible records David as the great king of Israel; and with his name is associated the thought of joy. For David is known as "the sweet psalmist of Israel." Indeed, the Psalms bring joy and solace to weary hearts today even as they did hundreds of years ago.

The spontaneity with which David stepped forth to rescue Israel from the giant Goliath has furnished inspiration and release to untold numbers of fear-enthralled persons. Confidently he put his trust in God. Therefore was evil defeated. And the love and loyalty shown him by Jonathan could have been inspired only by an unusually happy companionship.

Humility and confidence in the living God are a sure defense; whereas sharp thoughts of resentment, jealousy, criticism, condemnation, or self-importance are impediments which hinder joyous and successful progress.
