I am very thankful for Christian Science; it has been a great blessing to me for many years. I had friends who were Christian Scientists, and I knew that a member of the family had been healed of cancer by Christian Science treatment, but aside from that I knew nothing about the religion. Later, when my family were in deep trouble, I decided to turn to this religion for help, because I did not know where else to turn. I looked up the name of a practitioner in The Christian Science Journal and called upon her. She gave me a treatment, and upon leaving her home I was so uplifted mentally that I turned wholeheartedly to Christian Science. I have always been grateful for that experience.
In my family there have been many healings, including the healing of neuritis and grippe, and there have been instantaneous healings of mumps and whooping cough. I had worn glasses for years and had suffered severe pain without them, but I was healed of this trouble, and was relieved of wearing glasses.
Our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, states in Science and Health (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." This has been proved to me many times, when I have turned to God. I have found employment and recovered lost articles. Shortly after I took up the study of Christian Science I received an abusive letter which concerned a very dear member of my family. I was grieved and indignant, but I prayed to be divinely directed. A reply from me was necessary, and I worked over this answer for nearly a week. One night the answer came to me. I found that it was necessary to be more gracious. I changed the beginning of my letter, and knew that all was well, even though I told facts which would not be pleasing for the one concerned to know. I was not surprised when a most satisfactory and friendly response came to me.
