In doing my housework one day I had to move a heavy...
In doing my housework one day I had to move a heavy article. Suddenly I felt something snap in my back, and there was much pain. I had a little knowledge of Christian Science, and immediately applied what I knew; although I did not fully understand all that I declared, I knew it to be the truth. In spite of the quick relief experienced, and the fact that I apparently had no further difficulty, I was troubled about the incident at times; but I said nothing to anyone, and in time forgot it.
A number of years later, after I had been passing through some trying circumstances of sorrow and loss, a condition appeared which indicated a misplacement of certain organs. I did not mention the condition to anyone, although my family knew I did not seem to be quite normal for a time. I was never once tempted to consult a physician or have a medical diagnosis, but I did ask for help in Christian Science from a worker of many years' experience in whom I had much confidence. She gave me absent treatment, but for a short while there was not very much improvement. Then I commenced to be much happier than I had been for a long time, and a general improvement was manifested. However, the main difficulty remained unchanged. One morning, quite forgetting myself, I rushed upstairs on an errand in a very happy frame of mind. Suddenly I was conscious that something inside of me lifted and went into place. For a moment I was breathless; there was no pain, just a natural adjustment, and all at once I realized that my body was normal.
When I recall this experience, I feel unspeakably grateful to God, and to Mary Baker Eddy, who gave to the world this wonderful truth to be demonstrated, as Jesus demonstrated it, in healing every ill, through the understanding of the law of God, good.
