Opportunities

How often we find ourselves thinking that we should accomplish great things, or acquire eminence, or be richer in material possessions, if only we had better opportunities! Frequently we look at others, who have achieved position or worldly gain, and regard these things as the fruitage of opportunities. If we feel that we have not had, or at some critical moment have failed to seize, an opportunity, dismay or regret may overwhelm us. We may think dejectedly we have never had a chance, or have lost it. Is that not a faulty suggestion, to be rejected by the right-thinking man who believes in God's universal benevolence and His generous provision for all?

At this point, if we turn to Christian Science we shall learn what opportunities actually are. Indeed, through the study of the Bible and the inspired writings of Mary Baker Eddy, we shall find that Christian Science establishes the foundation of all correct thinking, and that through it we comprehend that which alone is real and true.

In his healing work, Christ Jesus took no account of climate, surroundings, the nature or severity of disease or disorder. The Master improved every opportunity to a cure. He acted at once, knowing that the opportunity to restore health or to destroy sin was present at the precise moment that he was aware of the need. He acknowledged opportunity as being present now, as continuous, ready at all times to be utilized.
