I wish to testify through the Sentinel to the healing power of Christian Science. About twenty years ago a friend suggested that I attend a Wednesday evening testimony meeting, and I went several times, always declaring on my way home that I would never go again, for I was very prejudiced against what I thought was Christian Science. However, the next week I always found myself preparing to go. I had gone several times when cystitis, to which I had been subject for twenty years, manifested itself. There was only one medicine that would help me, and I always carried the prescription for it in my purse to be in readiness when the trouble appeared. After the Wednesday evening meeting I stopped at the drugstore and had the prescription filled and took the medicine faithfully. For the first time in twenty years it failed to relieve me. Then I said, "I will try Christian Science to prove that it cannot heal me; then I can tell all my friends that it cannot heal." A practitioner treated me for one week and I was completely healed, and have never had a return of the ailment. I want to add that I was honest with the practitioner, and did not use a material application of any kind. After this healing I rejoiced to tell my friends the truth.

One rainy day my daughter slipped and fell on her elbow as she was returning to the office from lunch. Her employer insisted upon calling a physician, who said that if she did not have the bone set the arm would always be stiff. She refused to have the bone set and was taken home. We called a practitioner for help, and in one week she was back at the office, and the third week used the typewriter again. The arm was completely healed, and since then has never caused her any trouble.

We have had many healing in our home: of influenza, catarrh, rheumatism, which was healed in two months, and blood poisoning. I have gone through a fiery trial in sorrow, but all my trials have been met in Christian Science when I have been ready to give up the material for the spiritual Some healings have been quick and some slow. I am very grateful that the slow healings made me watch my thought more closely. I had to overcome a dislike for Mrs. Eddy, our beloved Leader. When one stops to think of her loving devotion and the untiring effort she made to reveal the truth to humanity, it is amazing to think one could ever misunderstand. I am striving daily to be more grateful and to love more. Christian Science means everything to me, and I often wonder in these trying times how people get along without this wonderful truth. I am more grateful than words can express, and I hope I may be able to help and be a comfort to others, as the sweet and faithful practitioners have been to me. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for class instruction.
