I had not heard of Christian Science until my son and...
I had not heard of Christian Science until my son and his wife came over from America in 1929. When I would visit them I always went to church with them, and we visited many Reading Rooms. At first I failed to see that the teachings of Christian Science were different from those of the Church of England to which I belonged, but I was soon able to see that there was a difference. One morning while reading the wonderful book, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I was instantly healed of bad sight and was able to leave off my glasses, which I had worn for fifteen years. I was also completely healed of constipation, and of other ailments; and a problem that had seemed to overshadow my life in the year 1930 was solved.
For these healings I am more than grateful to God; to Christ Jesus, our Way-shower; and to Mrs. Eddy, our beloved Leader, who gave much to the world to help and save mankind. Words fail to express my gratitude for the many blessings of love and joy which have come to me and mine through the understanding of this Science. I am learning to obey Mrs. Eddy's injunction on page 3 of "Pulpit and Press," "Know, then, that you possess sovereign power to think and act rightly, and that nothing can dispossess you of this heritage and trespass on Love," and to prove that sin and disease can be destroyed through the understanding of "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468). I am very happy to be a member of The Mother Church.—(Mrs.) Elizabeth Mary Webber, Chepstow, Monmouthshire, England.
