I am filled with great gratitude for Christian Science, which I have know about for over three years, and which has already brought me such rich blessings. I understand today what this means: "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

"What I began my vacation in the summer of 1934, I was informed that I should have to take some weeks off from work—as was usual each year. This time, however, I was very anxious about my future, and could not be rid of the fear that I might not be employed again, although I had been employed by the same firm for four years.

I had to experience personally the truth of Job's words, "For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me." Unpleasant experiences, exhaustion brought about by too strenuous work according to human opinion, and fear caused me to become very miserable physically. My eyes became so weak that often I could see hardly anything in the evening. I was in utter despair.
