Through the study of Christian Science I have been...
Through the study of Christian Science I have been lifted above discord and resentment, and it has proved to me that there is a right place for each one of us. This Science was presented to me when there did not appear to be any position for me. I had been at home since leaving school and, at twenty-three, found I must take a post. I had had a training in commercial subjects when I was fifteen or sixteen, but had entirely forgotten them whilst at home. It was just at a time, too, when a great many people with experience seemed to be not wanted.
For a year or two I drifted from one temporary post to another gaining experience, and at one of these I met a Christian Scientist who directed me to the church services and the Reading Room. I started to study the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly with the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
One day, in the Reading Room, I told the librarian about my problem and she said to me, "Well, dear, God will heal that too." I could not recall what else she said, but those words were ringing through my mind for several days, "God will heal, God will heal." I remember I turned to divine guidance, and this is how it worked out. First I was led to make arrangements to have a little coaching in shorthand for one month. About a week after that, in a club to which I belonged, a friend came to me and said, "Do you think you could take a small class in shorthand at a school I know?" It seemed so right that I immediately replied that I could. Another few weeks elapsed and a really interesting post was offered to me. The fees at the commercial schools were identical to the very penny with what I had received for teaching during those few weeks. As I look back, I realize how beautifully latent talents were unfolded to me so that I could give true help.
