Your correspondent agrees that Mrs. Eddy's teachings have given "a new and healthier outlook on life to many people." This is a good beginning. Christian Science is based wholly on the Bible, especially on the words and works of Christ Jesus, who taught that his way is the only way out of materiality into the realm of Spirit.

Mary Baker Eddy, from her youth remarkably spiritually-minded, tried many material methods in order to gain better health, until in her extremity she discerned that the carnal or mortal mind was the procurer of sin and disease, and God, divine Mind, the healer of them.

Christian Scientists give up material beliefs of life in matter, and prepare themselves to face evil with the truth which makes free. Christian Scientists are law-abiding, and, if required, report the illness of adults and children. The greatest possible comfort is attained by the poor and afflicted through the ministry of Christian Science. This Science teaches what true humility and sympathy mean; it never sympathizes with error, but it frees mortals by Truth.
