"Our Model, Christ"
In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 353): "Perfection underlies reality. Without perfection, nothing is wholly real." Not only the desire for perfection, but the spiritual fact of perfection, is brought demonstrably near to all through the revelation of Christian Science. There never has been and never will be, in reality, anything less or other than the perfection of God and its all-embracing manifestation.
The evidence of the five physical senses is material, limited, temporal. It misrepresents God and man in His image, and deprives those who do not reach out for higher evidence, of worthy aims and achievements. For this reason, Christian Science holds before humanity the true model of man in God's image.
Jesus always identified himself with Christ, Truth. This enabled him to prove Truth's power to destroy disease and restore health; to establish righteousness in place of sin, and life in place of death. His Christliness enabled him to demonstrate his own salvation from all the beliefs of the flesh and from the malice of the carnal mind directed at the spiritual ideal, which he represented. His spiritual understanding of God as the one perfect cause, including every true effect, made him humanity's benefactor. And spiritual understanding is within reach of all.
