It would appear from an article in a recent issue that Christian Science is placed in the same class with Couéism and faith-healing. Jesus never used suggestion to heal the sick, nor did he ask those who came to him to use repetitions of formulas for themselves. On the other hand, he rebuked "vain repetitions."
Christian Science gives one an understanding of God's law which, when applied in human affairs, heals the effects of ignorance of every kind. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 297), "Until belief becomes faith, and faith becomes spiritual understanding, human thought has little relation to the actual or divine."
It is this positive understanding of God and His law which enables Christian Scientists to heal those who have exhausted every other means of cure and as a last resort have turned to Christian Science.
