The question asked by a writer in your "Letters from Readers" column recently, prompted by his having read the lecture on Christian Science which you so generously published, deserves an answer.

Why have not the example and teachings of Jesus been more generally heeded? Why has this age failed to measure up to his teachings, since they have been available for nearly two thousand years? Is not the answer to these pertinent questions briefly that mankind is ignorant of how to make the teachings and example of the patriarchs, prophets, and apostles, and more especially those of Christ Jesus, practical?

In this age, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, was inspired to give us the Science of Christianity. In the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," she has given for all time proven, tested, demonstrable rules whereby the truths of the Bible may be practically applied in the solving of every problem common to men.
