Christian Science came into my life over five years ago, when I was suffering from what is known as a nervous breakdown. The illness was sudden and severe. In this extremity, after I had failed to receive relief from a doctor, I asked for help from a member of my family who is a student of Christian Science. Although young in Science, she lovingly complied with my request.

For some months prior to this time, in textbooks on ethics and philosophy, I had been seeking light on the problem of being, but found no satisfying answers to my questions. When I sought help in Christian Science, I little realized that I was reaching out toward the Christ, for my only thought was to find relief from the great burden of suffering. The healing came the following night. I found Truth, as revealed in Science, to be far above any human theories. It healed me of fear and changed my whole mental outlook. I experienced a rapid return of strength, although the adjustment of my thinking to the light of Truth took a longer period.

Membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church has proved a happy and broadening experience. I found a great satisfaction in church activities, as I began to learn how to serve others. The church periodicals, not the least of which is our international daily newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor, are continuous sources of inspiration. I am deeply grateful to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her noble works as Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.
