In the Cape Times recently, in your series "What I believe," a contributor states his opinion on the subject of healing in these words: "I believe that the most advanced medical and psychological knowledge of our time can do more to heal physical and mental suffering than can Christian Science or faith."

As your readers may have been left with the impression that Christian Science is "faith" healing I ask for space to make this correction. A mere blind faith is not a concomitant of Christian Science healing, any more than it is an essential in the correct solution of a mathematical problem. Understanding secures the right result.

On page 14 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, will be found these words: "Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth. This understanding casts out error and heals the sick, and with it you can speak 'as one having authority.'"
