Through the study of Christian Science happiness has come into my life under conditions which we are humanly educated to believe would make us miserable. This alone would fully justify all the time and effort which I could ever possibly devote to Christian Science; but we read in II Timothy, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." Therefore I have also been blessed in many other ways.
Not more than one week's treatment was required to heal a very painful condition which a nurse, whose apartment we were renting, told me was neuritis. She added that I would never get rid of it, because the trouble was in the very nerve itself and could not be doctored, and assured me that a hot climate usually gave relief. She seemed somewhat interested in Christian Science, and I told her of a healing I had received just before meeting her. Upon questioning me about this difficulty, she stated that it was malaria and would always be in my system. However, this was in 1923, and after two or three days' treatment I was free and have never felt any return of the symptoms. As I was a student of Christian Science, a doctor was not consulted in either of these cases; but whatever the trouble might have been called, I was indeed grateful to be healed.
I was also healed in a short time of a condition which, owing to symptoms I had witnessed in the passing of a sister under the doctor's care, I felt bordered on pneumonia, The false testimony of the physical senses was in evidence, but I was able to carry on with my duties until I was free.
