"Man's extremity is God's opportunity." This wonderful experience was mine in September, 1932. When I was discharged from the hospital after an operation, I was told that an important inner organ which had been festering had been removed and that it would be from one to two years before normal activity would be restored.

It was a very hard blow to me, and I needed strong words of comfort to keep me from despairing. Through my husband, who in the meantime had heard of Christian Science, treatment in Science was asked for at my request. It was lovingly given me, and in a single absent treatment the effect of the truth affirmed was immediately apparent. I was so full of joy over this manifestation of divine power that I quickly became an adherent of this glorious movement. And through the study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I came to have a deep feeling of reverence for our beloved Leader.

Ever since childhood I had suffered winter after winter from colds and tonsillitis. When I expressed my deep thanks to the practitioner for such a quick and glorious healing, I lost the tendency to have this trouble, and I have never since suffered from a weakness which I dreaded so much.
