Humility

Dear God,
Let me not forget,
When called to aid my brother man,
The years I spent in the vestibule
Of Thy house,
Awaiting
The ripening of consciousness,
To see and do Thy will.

Let me not forget
The tender, loving sympathy of those
Who guided my young faltering steps
Along the path,
From sense to Soul.

Let me not forget
To be compassionate, gentle, kind,
Awaiting—
Serene and unafraid—
The stirring of the waters deep
Of mortal mind,
So that in true humility
I, too, may say,
Thou art whole!
