Last year, as I was returning with friends from a Christian Science lecture, I was in a head-on automobile collision. As in a dream, I heard my voice repeating many times, "No, no, no," and then repeating several times out loud "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468). I was able to work silently in the ambulance for twenty-two miles, entirely calm and fearless. My head was badly wounded, several arteries being severed; a member of the party protected me, as I desired, from being taken to a surgeon. I depended on Christian Science alone for my healing.

I long since had demonstrated in dental work of all kinds that I could "be absent from the body" and "present with the Lord." At no time in this experience did I have even a headache. A physician and a lawyer, called in several days later, were amazed at what they saw and predicted blood poisoning and horrible scars.

Compensation enabled me to spend the month of June in the Benevolent Association Sanatorium at Chestnut Hill. A supervisor there told me that my healing was an inspiration to her, and that my head was in better condition than it would have been if stitches had been taken. Each day at the Sanatorium I walked more and more until the last day, when I felt strong enough to view our wonderful and beautiful new Publishing House.
