Christian Science was presented to me at a time when I was suffering from great physical, mental, and financial despondency. Having undergone an operation which had failed to heal me of an internal trouble of long standing, I was under the physician's care for a long time and grew weaker each day. I had suffered at intervals for fifteen years.

My husband's mother had asked me to try Christian Science and to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," written by Mary Baker Eddy. After the physician said he could do no more for me, I lifted up my thought to God. I asked to be taken to a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, and was there healed instantaneously after all material remedies had failed. This took place twenty-six years ago. Many other ailments have been healed since that time, such as headaches, rheumatism, throat trouble, and stomach trouble. By reading Science and Health and declaring that God is All-in-all and my life, I was healed instantaneously of a severe case of influenza during a time when it seemed most prevalent. Another healing took place in our home when my husband was healed of the smoking habit.

In her Message to The Mother Church for 1902 (p. 19) Mrs. Eddy has written these words: "Are earth's pleasures, its ties and its treasures, taken away from you? It is divine Love that doeth it, and sayeth, 'Ye have need of all these things.' A danger besets thy path?—a spiritual behest, in reversion, awaits you." This has proved to be the case in my home.
