His Presence

When there are days that grow so dark
I cannot see the light,
He takes my hand and gently guides
My faltering steps aright.

When those I've loved seem to forget,
I feel earth's winds blow chill,
His warm love flows into my heart,
My empty life to fill.

If, sometimes, in the mountain climb,
The way grows rough and steep,
His angels bear me safely up
And all my ways do keep.

And when it seems my upward path
Has solitary grown,
He comes and walks beside me there,
And I am not alone.
