[Original testimony in German]
When I attended a Christian Science Wednesday evening...
When I attended a Christian Science Wednesday evening testimony meeting for the first time several years ago, I felt that this religion was capable of revealing great truths. An earnest study of the teachings of Christian Science and an endeavor to comprehend its nature brought me so much light on questions hitherto unanswered, and thus great peace and the feeling of being safe with God, our Father, that I should like to give thanks.
Above all, the thought that God did not create sickness, and that all sickness is only a false belief of mortal mind, was an entirely new concept to me. Up to that time I had been accustomed to being sick. According to human belief I was supposed to have a weak heart caused by extreme sluggishness of the intestines. The whole blood stream was supposed to be poisoned. From a medical standpoint everything had been done. After a severe operation for appendicitis, I had a six months' stay at a sanatorium under a rigid course of treatment. Subsequent to another breakdown, which forced me to stay in bed for fourteen consecutive weeks, I was so weak that I could not walk across the room without help. Also, the treatment of a magnetizer lost its effect after a short time. The doctors could give me no more help, and I could not stand the heart stimulants any longer. In this hopeless condition Christian Science came as a blessing to me.
Through the help most lovingly given me by a practitioner, and through her explanations, I learned that just as the eternal order and orbit of the stars symbolize God's harmonious guidance and control, so He governs man, whom He has created spiritual and perfect, and subject only to Mind. The healing did not occur suddenly, but under right thinking the normal functioning of the body slowly and steadily returned. Since then I have been able to work and can pursue my vocation. I have also climbed a mountain 2300 meters [about 7537 feet] high without harmful effects.
