When Christian Science was first presented to me I studied the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and also had treatment by a practitioner; but I was not ready to accept the truth of being revealed in this book and so, not receiving the expected help, I again turned to materia medica. The next three years were spent in a vain search for health through the medium of drugs, diet, chiropractic and osteopathic treatments, and finally a change of climate.

But the seed of Truth had been planted, and when Christian Science was again presented to me by a neighbor, though skeptical about its power to heal, I decided to ask a practitioner for help. For about a year I had been troubled with a badly infected finger. which at times was very painful. After receiving three treatments I was completely and permanently healed of this condition.

After this healing I was encouraged to ask again for help, this time for the healing of neuritis and inflammation of the bladder with complications, which had made my days and nights one long misery for several years. After much consecrated study of the Bible and our textbook, together with help from practitioners, the false beliefs of fear, extreme sensitiveness, self-pity, and self-will began to fade from my consciousness and to be replaced by some degree of understanding of the nature of God and man, and their relationship. In response to this improved thinking my body began to function more normally, until finally the healings were complete.
