"The grand necessity of existence"

Mary Baker Eddy , the prophet of our day, has written in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 560), "The great miracle, to human sense, is divine Love, and the grand necessity of existence is to gain the true idea of what constitutes the kingdom of heaven in man." This same textbook, when read and studied in conjunction with the Holy Bible, teaches us how to gain this true idea and establish within ourselves the kingdom of heaven.

It is a fine and wholesome sign that many today are increasingly seeking to discover "what constitutes the kingdom of heaven in man." They want to know what they can do to develop in their consciousness a harmonious state of thinking that will not only bring blessings to themselves, but will also benefit the rest of the world. This search for harmony is bound to become, as time goes on, an all-absorbing activity of the human race, because harmony is a "necessity of existence."
