An understanding that God's law is ever operative, therefore never failing, has given me deliverance in a recent experience where serious injury or death would have seemed to be the only outcome. In grateful acknowledgment of this understanding I offer this testimony.
I had been much alone during the previous months, and while this seemed not a happy condition, yet it provided opportunity to see more clearly and realize more surely the meaning of two thoughts that claimed my attention quite constantly throughout this time. One was that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 494); and the other that God's presence means the presence of all that God is, His wholeness, His completeness, absolute power, infinite love, unfailing law, the abundance of good in every direction. And the fullness of this divine presence would shut out all things that seem the opposite of good.
On the night before Christmas Eve I suddenly lost my balance at the top of a steep, straight stairway, and fell headlong down the stairs, striking the top of my head against a brick wall. There was later evidence that I was unconscious for some time, but it seemed to me that I was able at once to rise and go upstairs without difficulty, go to the telephone and call for someone to come in. I had to make several calls before reaching anyone, and remembered the telephone numbers without needing to look them up, which was unusual for me to do.
