Through studying the teachings of Christian Science as...
Through studying the teachings of Christian Science as found in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, my mother lived probably fourteen years longer than she would have done without this understanding. She loved the truth, and her work in healing others was a great joy to her.
After her passing, my greatest test was to know that God is Life, no matter what the material senses may say. Although it was months before I saw this, and at times it seemed not to be worth the continual diligent watching and working, the correcting of my thought was a sweet experience during that time.
During the so-called depression I took some business training, but mortal mind said, There is no place for you. Since I had previously been a public school teacher, I decided to finish my teacher's training. Again mortal mind said, There are more teachers than positions. Work was lovingly done by a practitioner, who, when doubt talked loudest, was all the more firm and confident of the operation of God's law of activity. During the time I was going to school, the way in which my every human need was supplied was marvelous proof of God's loving care and provision. A position was offered me in my home town. During this experience I tried to be obedient and of service. Mrs. Eddy tells us in "The First Church of Christ, Scienctist, and Miscellany" (p. 232), "The right way wins the right of way, even the way of Truth and Love whereby all our debts are paid, mankind blessed, and God glorified."
