The station announcer said: Good afternoon, Ladies and Gentlemen: It is Columbia's pleasure to present another program in the seventh consecutive year of the "Church of the Air" series. The service today is coming to you from Station WJR, Detroit, and is given under the auspices of the Christian Science Committee on Publication for the State of Michigan, with the approval of The Christian Science Board of Directors of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. The broadcast is conducted by Mr. Arthur A. Kelkenney, a former First Reader of First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Detroit. The subject chosen for the address this afternoon is "The Gospel of Love." The soloist on the program is Mr. Charles M. Auld, assisted by Mme. Gizi Szanto at the piano. We now give the program into the hands of Mr. Kelkenney.

Mr. Kelkenney opened the program by reading selections from the Bible as follows: I John 3:11, 18; 2:15, 16; 4:7–21; and from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: 275:12–19; 113:5–8; 454:17–23; 234:4–8; 4:3–11; also from "Miscellaneous Writings" by the same author: 249:27–2 (next page); 250:16–29.

The program continued with a solo, "Love Never Faileth," by Ward Stephens, after which Mr. Kelkenney read an address substantially as follows:
